The Institution shall consist of the following categories of members :-
1. CORPORATE MEMBERS
a) Life Fellow : He /She shall be a person who (i) is not less than 40 years of age and has held a position of responsibility for a minimum period of 15 years and possesses a high academic qualification and has achieved distinction in and has rendered outstanding service to the profession of Plant Engineering.b) Member : He /She shall be a person who (i) is not less than 30 years of age (ii) possesses degree or equivalent qualification in engineering from a recognised institution with 6 years’ experience, possesses a diploma or equivalent qualification in Engineering with 8 years of experience or a degree in science or equivalent with 9 years of experience.
c) Associate Member : He /She shall be a person who (i) is not less than 25 years of age (ii) possesses degree or equivalent qualification in engineering with 4 years’ experience or possess degree in science with 5 years of experience.
2. NON CORPORATE MEMBERS
a) Graduate Member : A member described herein admitted to the institution by Governing Council. He /She shall be a person who (i) is not less than 21 years of age (ii) Hold a degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.b) Student Member : He /She shall be a person who (i) is not less than 18 years of age. (ii) Is preparing for profession career and appearing for the examinations of Indian Institution of Plant Engineers. This category of membership restricted to a maximum period of 5 years.
c) Student Associate : He /She shall be a person who (i) is not less than 18 years of age. (ii) Is preparing for a professional career and is pursuing a course of training approved by council.
